Hi There
We've done a few train holidays mostly in mainland Europe, both before and after being diagnosed with Osteoporosis. My symptons are relatively minor though. We do all the planning ourselves rather than book a package. It's probably cheaper to organise yourself. There is a website called "The man in seat 61". Very helpful and gives detail on trips in many countries, where to buy tickets, where to stay etc. Good luck, and even if you don't go the planning can be fun.
Hello Viking 1822 I bought an interrail pass last summer and took a train to London, then eurostar then a couple of trains to Italy and back. I used a small lightweight two-wheeled suitcase and a tiny, lightweight backpack for passport etc. I found it relatively straightforward with minimal heaving of the suitcase off and on trains. The luggage racks were mainly at floor height so I didn't have to lift my case much there either. The main issue was stairs in stations without working escalators but I found I could 'bump' my wheels up and down without having to bear too much weight. Some European trains have upstairs seating so its probably best to reserve a seat downstairs in advance if that might be an issue. I found British train travel more tricky if trains were already full when I got on - how to get my suitcase up on the high-level racks - but usually fellow travellers offer help. I got annual travel insurance - at the time, I'd only had one fracture so it wasn't too extra-pricey. It was a lovely way to travel - comfortable seats, the option to get up and walk around, great views, and the European trains were all very efficient and on time.
Great question, I've been wondering the same. Has anyone done it who needs to carry refrigerated meds?
