swollen knuckle

My right middle finger knuckle is swollen, red, sometimes itchy and aches a lot. I’ve had this for 5 days now and doesn’t seem to be going away or going down. I cannot remember hitting it or hurting it any way which makes it more confusing. The skin around the Knuckle feels tight when I bend it but it doesn’t hurt. Can move my finger freely and it’s not that tender to touch. I’ve been soaking it in tea tree oil water daily but doesn’t seem to be helping. Any ideas ?

Could it be infected? Have you had a scratch or insect bite there?

I can’t see anything to suggest a bite or a scratch

I guess there are a number of different things it could be. It's probably best if you see your doctor if it isn't improving.

I have had the same thing come up on my toe. My doctor has referred me to dermatology department. Her mother apparently has this on her fingers and she believes it may be something to do with the medication we have to take for osteoporosis. Mine only started after my first dose of AA.
