Yes, I started alendronic acid a few months ago, I take mine once a week and the day I take it I feel totally wiped out and tend to sleep on and off all day.
Then the next day I’m not so tired but my bones ache. I’m the same age as you. My back doesn't hurt when I stand though. Sometimes it aches when I walk, but I’m not sure why. Like you I have inflammatory arthritis. It’s not much fun is it!
No, it's not just you! It's me too, but in my case it was medical mismanagement of Prolia!
Three vertebrae broke -- two years ago -- and since then it's been nothing but pain -- especially when I'm sitting up or standing, so I have to force myself to move as much as I can so I don't get too debilitated. But that said, I'm not as active as was when pain was not a constant companion, and this definitely leads to early exhaustion.
I have also had 3 vertebrae fractures 1st in 2017, 2nd in 2019, 3rd Feb 2020 But, I won't take Alendronic Acid, Prolia or any of them as I've heard too many 'horror stories' plus there's no guarantee as their not a cure 'a temporary fix' if you can tolerate side effects.
I have Osteporosis in spine, osteopenia in cervical and lumbar regions.
I do get back ache plus lower back ache daily and the only 'respite' is to lie down. Sitting is the worst position for me.
I tried Alendronic Acid just once in Hospital but my arm/hand swelled up (I'm prone to allergies plus have Hashimoto's).
I take optimal amounts of VitD3 3000iu's daily plus vit K2-MK7 to make sure vit D goes to bones where it's needed instead of it 'hanging about in tissues' etc. I take strong vit C in the form of Acerola powder plus vitb12 sublingual and a vit B complex. Also, selenium and zinc.
I have enough calcium in my diet (noted from blood results).
I'm aware if taking AA or on Prolia you need Calcium supplements as from what I've researched both can deplete body of Calcium.
I take paracetamol as and when necessary (not daily).
It's trying to get a balance individually but I know how difficult and debilitating it is...I have an appmnt with pain Management at the end of this Month (very delayed because of Covid).
I have seen 3 different Spine Specialists - the running thread is:- no bending, reaching, lifting, defo no hoovering, mopping, well nothing really.
My last Spine Surgeon 'appmnt' a Month ago was a telephone call!! Due to 'see him' next Month (virus permitting)
