Thank you very much for posting the link, the article was indeed very interesting. On the same page was a link to an Irish study on bone health and yogurt consumption:
sciencedaily.com/releases/2...
“Total hip and femoral neck bone mineral density measures in females were 3.1-3.9% higher among those with the highest yogurt intakes compared to the lowest and improvements were observed in some of the physical function measures (6.7% better). In men, the biomarker of bone breakdown was 9.5% lower in those with the highest yogurt intakes compared to the lowest. This is an indication of reduced bone turnover.“
Seems like a good idea to eat yogurt daily.
Thank you for this link Nanaedake. I’ve just read it out to my husband and it’s confirmed his theory that eating yoghurt every day for breakfast is helping his hip problem! My cholesterol is very high, but I take kefir daily nonetheless.
I eat a daily 150g portion of live culture, Goat Yogurt. The assay values on the packaging says it contains 360mg Ca per portion. I would be struggling to achieve my Ca intake, if I didn’t included this.
t’s delicious served with our organically grown, seasonal fruit, or as a custard or cream substitute. I also add some as a serving topping, to my home made soup, making it nice and creamy.
It’s the best available Ca source that I’m aware of, containing no Ca chelating agents or contaminants, unlike a lot of fruit and veg on sale.
Thanks for posting.
