Only took one am terrified to take another surely HRT can't be any worse can it
Hi I've heard some dreadful stories o... - Bone Health and O...
Hi I've heard some dreadful stories of alendronic has anybody resorted to HRT as it protects bones and side effects of AA are awful

I took AA from 2007 until 2012 and it worked for me. After 5 years my scores were within normal range and it was discontinued. I continue to monitor my bone density with scans every three years. I was fortunate in not having any major side effects from this drug.
I also have severe RA which I have had for over 40 years and am not very mobile. I had HRT for a number of years until 2006 when I developed breast cancer. It was suggested to me as being protective of my bones as I have taken steroids on a long term basis. So it didn’t work in my case to prevent osteopenia and may have contributed to my breast cancer. Who knows?
All these powerful drugs have side effects and one needs to take advice and do your own research before making a decision. Wishing you the best of luck.
Pam
Hi pam thanks for the reply I take your point I think I've read too many things on the AA maybe, I did lift a heavy bag but I do that frequently with no problem normally but I also have arthritis soo maybe it was coincidence, I was expecting indigestion heartburn as I suffer from that but it's controlled by lansaprazol I'll have to see if it happens this week if so I'll see GP and hopefully get some answers compared to you I'm lucky I think I wish you all the best pam and your scores are really encouraging thank you so much
I made the mistake of taking a second Alendronic pill & suffered further and the effects stayed in my body for 10 months. HRT was not on offer for me, I think because of my age of being over 60.
The one drug I took the longest. Think about 3 years was Relaxofin (sp) by Evista. And that did help my score. But over time the side effects got really bad so had to stop taking them.
