I've just read a bloke from Yorkshire is having to have therapy after realising 4 potions of fish chips and mushy peas cost him £54 pounds 😂 this reminds me so much of my dad and his " turn that light off ,put the immersion heater on one shot, you don't need so much coal on the fire, walk petrol costs money etc ,I do miss the old fella.

Breath easy everyone .

£54 for 4 lots of fish, chips and mushy peas? Day light robbery! Folks in Lancashire would need therapy too 😁

Lancashire folk would have checked the price first ,especially us st.heleners, lol

It's just pay-back time!!

It`s rerun each year when Yorkshire play Lancashire at cricket. Needless to say Yorkshire usually wins.

Is that so ? Mind you its only a game ,say like rugby where ,well we all know who wins rugby league every year lol 😆

Aren`t a lot of Rugby League matches won by the French? Only out of interest as that is where I live, and have done for last 30 years.

Jaybird19 in reply to soulboy118

Have they gone .St Helens was only Pilkingtons and nothing else but this it was a long time ago. Last century !Things do change and it is always a surprise when it isn't as you remember ,.

soulboy118 in reply to Jaybird19

Yeah, pilks have slung their hook, sheet works , cowley Hill, fibre glass ,triplex and head offices , thd Town took a big hit when they packed up but everything changes .

Things are so expensive now though. I feel for the poor man.😂 My parents were very frugal back in the day, had to be really.

Hope you’re as well as you can be. Xxx👍😘

Good luck for this afternoon

Omg my dad was the same grew up in Yorkshire!!!

But that’s a lot for fish and chips must’ve been posh!! Lolol

Probably served with a slice of sorento lemon lol

I’m a Lancashire girl and I remember years ago paying £13 for fish , chips n peas for myself and hubby at Harry Ramsdens in Blackpool .The same meal plus free scraps was about £5.00 from the local chippy at the time I was absolutely mortified, took me years to get over it and I was more annoyed because we had actually queued for ages for the privilege of eating there . 😡😂

Harry Ramsden was always over rated and overpriced

Its that added slice of bread and butter that does it....

Where`s me inhaler???????

My Dad from Cumberland, I still turn the lights out when I leave a room. Drove Hubby nuts, when grumbling if he left the fridge/freezer door open when going back for a second item, or boiled a full kettle for one mug of coffee.

They are a strange lot who live north of Potters Bar.

It is I just wasn’t sure if that was politically correct these days, I have no idea which words I’m allowed to use or not , people seem to be very easily offended these days 🤦🏻‍♀️🥴😂

I'm offended your scared to cause offence 😅

I was just being ironic ,I apologise if I made you feel in anyway uncomfortable that was not my intention

Bkin profile image
Bkin in reply to soulboy118

Not at all soulboy, being as the post was aimed at northerner's I hadn't thought the genuine expression would offend anyone, but I appreciate not everyone would be of the same opinion :) Twas not I that brought the subject up really - Painterswife replied to me and I was responding to her - so glad no harm done :)

Have I offended anyone 🤔 ?? If so I’m sorry but then that would offend you so I’m not sorry 🤣😂 I would never choose to cause offence but if someone chooses to be offended when I’m not being offensive then I’d be offended 😂.

Lol

Oh bless. When my parents got their leccy bill my dad would run round having a go and turning all the lights off. I miss him too....

I would need therapy too if fish and chips cost so much here too! x

I married a Lancashire lad and he’s just like that!

Used to get a bag of scraps from the chippy for a penny( old penny that is) when I was a kid. Scraps were the bits of chips and batter from the fish leftover in the fryer for anyone that doesn't know. Yummy. 😆

I know scraps very well, local chippy ( moores) used to save me some every dinner time when I was at school ,lovely on a split ( chips and peas to the uninitiated,)

Alberta56 profile image
Alberta56 in reply to Biofreak

Even in darkest London we had scraps. BUT they cost 6p, as I remember. We used to buy them on our way home from Guides, until Captain told us it looked bad to be mooching up the High Street eating scraps in Guide uniform. However we found a back way home, over the tube line and through the allotments, so nobody much could see us.😋😋😋

I'd need therapy too. £ 12 something for 3 lots were I am.

Joy123 profile image
Joy123 in reply to Muglow

£12 would buy one portion at my local chippy! Large fish, chips and mushy peas. x

Williewind profile image
Williewind in reply to Joy123

Served in a posh box though…

Dont forget to put your cardi on if your cold and I wouldn't pay that much for fish and chips, even though it is one of my favourite meals x
