Victoria A&E closed.

New Victoria Minor Injuries Unit closed: Patients to attend QEUH

In response to the current situation, we have taken the decision to close the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at the New Victoria Hospital.

This is due to a significant reduction in the number of people using the service. Patients should instead attend the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital MIU.

This will operate from 9am – 7pm and you will be seen and treated by a member of the team there.

If you attend outwith these times and it is deemed safe to do so, after a brief nurse assessment, you may be asked to return the next day for formal assessment and treatment. We will take into account that you attended the night before. However, this may not always be possible if the unit is very busy.

Please return to the Emergency Department earlier if you feel numbness or extreme cold in the affected limb, or you feel a deterioration of symptoms that cannot wait until the morning.

Thanks for update with regard to QEUH.

This information is very much appreciated though obviously let's hope we don't have to use it.

That's my hope, too, but, as you know, it's quite a distance between them and I thought it would save folk a wasted journey, then further travel to QE.

Stay safe!
