Young and mental health

My daughter is 24. If the government ask the over 70s and also the vulnerable to isolate for 4 months, she will come into this catagory.

She is lucky that she is an accountant and her work are setting things up so everyone can work from home.

I agree that this will keep her safe but my concern is her mental health. Her only friends are her work colleagues . Whilst they only go out occasionally, they interact during their day and play card games in the lunchtime . There wouldnt be any of this and I am concerned that she will get depressed.

She is supposed to be getting physio too but we are guessing this may have been put on hold as well as they don't normally have anyone this young so werent how to go about it??? So shes not been shown what exercises she needs to do to get her stronger as well as she'll only be able to do them at home and not go to a gym .

Hello Kcn3 . 👋

I think I remember your daughter was diagnosed with PPFE. Although I understand your concern for your daughter, it is better for her to be as safe as possible. It is hard to feel isolated, but please remember, she's a 'young one' and they know far better than you or I how to keep in contact via the numerous forms of media available with their friends. 📲

I can't comment on physio because everyone is different. Despite self distancing, I still go out for walks as my neighbourhood is relatively quiet all day. If I see anyone coming I simply turn a corner. Your daughter needs to talk with the centre that provides her therapy to ask for the appropriate advice.

I know as mums we get very concerned. But, try not to get too stressed. Your girl is 24 and I'm sure after all she's been through, much more savvy than your regular young person. Take care and best wishes,

Cas xx 🙋🐕
