Any globetrotters or holiday makers on oxygen therapy - how do you manage to travel with portable oxygen concentrators?

Any globetrotters or holiday makers on oxygen therapy - how do you manage to travel with portable oxygen concentrators? Do you have to hire portable oxygen concentrators privately, or do you find that your supplier is happy to lend you one for the duration of your holiday for free (or a nominal charge)?

I am asking because I am hopeful that once my partner regains confidence being on oxygen therapy for pulmonary fibrosis, we could go travelling again. :-)

Any experiences and/or ideas would be much appreciated.

Someone posted a similar question yesterday. Have a look as the replies might be helpful to you - healthunlocked.com/blf/post...

You could also try phoning the BLF Helpline (03000 030 555 office hours) for advice and your next step might be to contact your oxygen provider and see what they offer.

If you say what sort of holiday you are thinking of, more members with experience of that type of holiday may respond.

Planning a holiday is wonderfully therapeutic, so I hope this helps your partner to feel more confident about travelling with oxygen.

It depends if you can use pulse concentrator or need continuous flow. I need continuous so a portable one wouldn't work for me. Your husband needs to be assessed on a 6 min walk using a pulse portable concentrator. If he is okay with it they can add it to his oxygen prescription. You can get this delivered to any holiday destination in the UK. If you want to holiday overseas you will need to hire as you cannot take equipment out of UK. The hospital oxygen nurses will be able to give u info on private hire. Sometimes it's free with ehic card.
