Lung Transplant for BO

Today is the day! I am meeting with my Lung Transplant team for the very first time. I have Bronchiolitis Obliterans. My only expectation is that they will give me a list of things to accomplish. If they don't, then I will know that there is no transplant ahead in my future. I am 63 years old. I am so fortunate that my husband of 43 years is going to go with me. I could have handled this myself, but it would have been very difficult. Thank you all for your kind words. Off we go!

It's good to hear things are moving forward for you. So pleased you will have your husband with you for support. It helps so much not having to face things on your own. A second pair of ears and eyes is always useful!

Good luck with your meeting. Please let us know how it goes.

Good Luck Hun, I was 64 when I went for my 4 day Assessment. I did accomplish all they asked off me and have carried on as best I can, I was put on the List. ( I have not had a Transplant Unfortunately). Please stay Positive and do as they ask, I went to QE Birmingham, Amazing Transplant Team. Fingers Crossed for you. Please keep us Updated. Had my Hubby with me with every step. He's my Rock. Love n Hugs. XXXX Carolina.

Planning on out-living us eighty-plus year olds eh|? I'm sure you will with your determination, my very best wishes to you. 👍😉

How did it go? When will you get your first results?

Firstly good luck! I have OB and am now wondering whether a lung transplant is inevitable. Is it? Quite worrying- I am 67 and honestly don’t feel that bad fortunately

Hi Christine. I have the same disease, and I think lung transplant is not inevitable. I know someone who had BO but has remained stable and not on oxygen for years. I think it is really a balance between whether you are stable and are managing and all the risks that come with transplant, as the outcome is never assured. xx 😊

Thanks Caspiana. I was thinking that I would end up needing a lung Transplant which would have meant my lungs would have to have deteriorated so much more than They are now. At present my Fev1 is about 48% so I think I am quite well. Thanks for answering my query

Hi. Good luck on your meeting. You are lucky that they have agreed to give you a transplant they refused mine outright due to me over 60.

I hope it all goes well for you.
