Leaking valve

Does anyone have a severe leaking mitral valve that could give me some answers about this cough I have when I lie down

Hi I have a leaky valve and am about to go in for an investigation for surgery next Friday. Think mine has been leaking for a long time. I was told the scale of severity is 1-4. 4 being the worst mine is 3.5. No major symptoms I look and feel well. Don’t get exceptionally tired either. Apparently it needs doing. I have a history of SLE. And a blood clotting issue called APS. High blood pressure few years ago started the investigations.

What do you need to know?

Thanks for your reply I have a severe leaking valve and severe COPD the cough and breathlessness is the worse effects I am on 80grams of flurozamide but still waiting on cardiac doctors to decide what they think is the best way to treat it they have told me that they don't think surgery to fix the valve is an option because of my lungs they don't think I would survive the operation I am at my wit's end with the fluid build up and the cough
