Well that didn't go as planned. The good news is that I only have to use oxygen if I'm moving. If I'm sitting at the computer or drawing then I don't need to use it as my readings are pretty good. This was the conclusion after taking blood from my earlobe. The not so good news is that they won't, at the moment, change me onto something other than Trimbow which really doesn't do a thing for me. Also, the oxygen is likely to be for life and I have to chase my doctor to get me in to see the heart chap so they can sort out the correct tablets and explain what is going on with my heart.
Fidget was being a bit meh this morning, so I dosed myself up and took him down to the green for a short walk. Believe me it is not far and I did have to rest several times to get my breath back. I should really have taken my oxygen with me, but I didn't want him or the tank to come a cropper. I hooked myself up to the tank as soon as I got home. So that was me done for for the rest of the day...but...it's the first time I have gone out on my own since December. It was lovely to be able to make that decision for myself.

I’m sorry you are stuck with ambulatory oxygen, but it does enable you to be more active! I have been on it now for 18 months and it has been a benefit. I keep getting tested for long term oxygen therapy which I am sure is coming soon! I started pulmonary rehabilitation yesterday, I hope it helps. Last time I started it I ended up in hospital, so I have been told to do it very gently! Love your dog pictures xx
At the assessment yesterday she also said she was going to put me forward for pulmonary rehab. Last time I did it I ended up in hospital too. This is why I'm in the mess that I am! xx
With regards Ambulitory oxygen treat as any other medicine, it will allow you more freedom. Have you a bag and trolley for your cylinder, if you can use pulse dose delivery, a conserver will give lots more usage.
Yes I have a bag and a trolley. The bag is too heavy for me when it's full. Yes, I've got the conserver but I have to keep remembering to breathe through my nose

I have been able to draw since I could first hold a pencil. It's hard work sometimes, but If I am drawing something I like then it's easier...as with most things in life!! My art came in very handy during my working life. I was self employed and did many different things to earn my crust. All suitable drawings were turned into cards, keyrings, fridge magnets, coasters and 10 x 8 inch print. I did all this myself in house and then marched off to craft fairs. I also supplied some greyhound kennels with stock. Everything I do now is colour pencil as my hands don't work fast enough for watercolour. One day I might go back to oils.
Speak to your oxygen nurse and get your prescription changed so you can go onto liquid Oxygen it’s far better to use when walking around doing things and his very light weight it comes with a small hold-all you place over your shoulder and around your waist
No restrictions when going out you could also buy a rollator they are great to walk with plus you can still take your dog for a walk
I’m on the Imogen also and yes I can carry it with the bag it comes in it’s very good but I can tell you that the liquid oxygen his lighter to carry around
BOC will supply you with it but you need your oxygen nurse to change your prescription to go on it
We are going away for a week in May I have ordered my oxygen to be delivered but because I’m going to a different area BOC will be supplying me with it instead of Liquid air
Good Morning fidgetandscooter ! I'd say that apart from still needing to see your heart specialist,you didn't do too bad. Only needing oxygen when on the move is good and many members here do find it works well for them. However taking a walk with Fidget and.not taking your oxygen wasn't perhaps the best choice!!! With regards to your Trimbow puffer you could maybe ask your GP or if you are lucky enough to have a respiratory nurse at your surgery,she may be able to change it?

Hi fidget...., I'm probably teaching granny to suck eggs but dont you have a portable machine you could wheel behind you? Mine has set me free cos I couldn't manage cylinders on my scooter.
Hello, I do have one that is portable and I have had a cylinder holder put on to my scooter. However, if I'm walking, Fidget, the cylinder is heavy and the two of them get tangled. I am going to have a chat with the powers that be to see if I can use liquid oxygen for certain things.
I do hope you will take your oxygen with you fo are depriving all the cells in your body of what they need and they die! This is most important when we speak of brain cells!!!!!
I agree that the inhalers don't seem to do anything other then the rescue inhaler. Which is why after a 6 month period or so I try to research and change. I also have valve problems which is a direct result of the COPD. Good luck my friend.

Thank you for sharing the update though sorry things are not as planned or hoped. Like you my mum is slowly getting back out after the winter period and other set backs. Though mum is not yet on oxygen with her COPD. Can I ask if you have an oxygen reader at home and if so what is the average reading? Mum currently is ranging from 82 - 87. And notice how exhausted mum after moving.
