Lung function

I have been diagnosed with Asthma/Copd. Having been to see a different consultant she has given me these test results which I don’t understand and now says I haven’t got Copd. My Fev is 2.24 (93% predicted) Does anyone here know what this means?

I should have started with hi I’m new here.

Thank you so much for your reply. I’ve just got the test results before that one and they are 74.66 so I must be doing something right.

It’s so kind of you to take the time to reply. Take care

Thank you Ger67 for taking the time to reply. I wonder do the tests vary on how your health is that day ? Take care and I hope you feel better soon

Mine can vary with my condition at the time, especially if I've got an infection or just got rid of one. The hot weather and the high pollen count are making my results poorer at the moment. Also, I had to learn the technique of doing the tests.

Thank you for your reply. I do hope your keeping as well as you can. A nurse from this site is calling me this morning so hopefully get some things clarified. I’ve been of work ( workplace very cold) and this has helped. Going on holiday do I mention COPD on my insurance or not 😟 I’ve no idea.

Yes, do tell your insurance about your COPD. It will put the cost up, but if you don't and it causes problems while you're away you won't be covered. Some insurance companies even use it as an excuse not to pay out on something unrelated, like a broken leg.

Take a deep breath in filling the abdomen, not raising the shoulders, and then blow out as rapidly as you can, but continue to push all the air out of your lungs until (for me) you are wheezing and have to stop because otherwise you'll be seeing stars.
