Hi everyone I am new to this site but already getting a good feeling about this site. I have Cold haven't had a flare up for a while which is good except now I'm wondering if anyone can help with my question recently some of my family came to stay for 5days they brought their dog which I love very much husky cross I have been feeling unwell think it's a flare up and was wondering if it has anything to do with the dog which does cast a lot of fur anything any Dvise would be welcome thanks sally

Thank you it's gonna be hard telling them dog won't be able to come when they come to stay again which is beginning of October hopefully they will understand I really love Salvador their dog

Hiya Elizabeth I to am new to this also, but feel I just need to say about your possible allergy, you can get that tested possibly by your own doctors. I have two dogs plus quite often my daughters dog staying with us too, but when I go to another daughters home to visit I'm quite ill and it's because of her cats, plus kittens as she breeds them and by the time I get home I can hardly breath. Needless to say when she asked if I could look after them when she goes on holiday I have had to say NO for once in my life. Better to be safe than sorry. I think they just do several allergy tests together from what I can remember. Hope this is of some use to you. Take care.

I have been pestering for allergy testing for years ,I'm told they don't do it for adults ,I have some scary moments maybe because I have epi pen they think don't need testing LOL

I have mild COPD dx 8 yrs ago I have two Jrs and did have two Shiba Inus which have a furry under coat but none of these dogs have caused me any problem so please get checked out, if dogs are given a good brush before coming to you they will shed much less fur.

It easily could be the dog causing the flare up. I have a wee dog and keep her coat groomed really short I also take an antihistamine daily. When my son comes to visit with his two huge dogs I do tend to get a flare as they too are really hairy, it can pass off in a few days using my ventolin more xxx

It's going to be a delicate situation. I'm allergic to some dogs most cats and all horses. Be glad they don't have a horse, for my research shows a high probability you might react to all those.

I beleive animals that produce dander which is the fine hair are the worse offenders. Husky type dogs are probably near the top of the list when you consider where they are supposed to live and need the insulation provided by the fine thick under coat.

Also animaĺs that gŕoom a lot can also be a trigger. Proteins in their saliva get airborne.

No simple answers as I have relatives who hardly visit because I dont want the dogs here. Have big and constsnt battle as next doors cat, which my wife finds more adorable than me has taken to wanting to live with us, well her.

Have to be Mr Nasty, your health is more important, even if you do find the dogs likable, keep away.

Ive had multiple allergies, especially to cats, dogs less so. We've always had dogs and I assumed that the steroids in my symbicort sorted out any problems. But 3 weeks after the last one died I started being able to breathe much more easily so clearly poor old Rocky was causing a problem. Now we have joint custody with our nearby close friend of a Spanish water dog - she doesnt shed (and has webbed feet) so she is clipped a couple of times a year. They are said to be hypoallergenic but I assume she must have dander (you beat me to that Tryfan!). But I seem to be ok.
