Been awhile...

Hello I'm still alive and fighting...this is good I guess. I've decided against a lung transplant as I feel it is not really who I am, I don't feel it will extend my life much longer than going without a transplant, the required medication made so sick I wished I was no longer here, and lastly battling with little support from family makes it an impossible journey. With all this being said I am not sad just positive I will how long I am so post to. All be blessed and take care.

Hi There,

Do you have to make this decision now? You seem young to be ruling a transplant out and things may seem different as your condition deteriorates. I understand that it is your decision but in my case, the longer I contemplated this option, the better I felt about it. I know that support is necessary but it might be worth discussing the transplant option with family and friends. They may not realise just how serious your condition is.

Take care,

Helen

What a beautiful smile. Thank you for your post. I am way too old for a transplant and not ill enough. But I think we all wonder about how we would feel about being on "the list". It's a really tricky one. There was a TV programme about and it left me in even more confusion. For some their lives go on hold, understandably. And it is not a simple "happy ever after" event. There may be complications and invariably lifelong medication. Hmmm....

All I can say is good for you. I think your decision has brought you some peace of mind.

All the best

K

I was offered the chance of a transplant some 12 years ago which I also refused as there was no guarantee I would be better off for having it and I am still doing ok so it does need very careful consideration.

Docmel - Not all people are in favour of having a transplant? I refused one a couple of years ago due to too many unanswered questions, and I'm still here live and kicking. But remember you can still go on the list at any time as long as you haven't deteriorated to much ? I know there is a lot of people out there probably saying LIFE at all cost's (some not being in our positions?) but that is their opinion and we should respect that as they should respect our decisions. The door is always open to change your mind if you want. As long as you don't leave it too late?.

Enjoy life the best you can, when you can and try to remain positive (which can be hard at times) Keep that beautiful smile going for a long to come !!!

Keep sucking it in and take care

You're choice - if the options are there and you've been into it thoroughly (and I'm sure you have) then just carry on and keep that lovely smile going! All my very best wishes for you.
