We had such a lovely day today I really thought things were goin well but mums oxygen has gone low again down to 61 she's very sleepy again and refuses to wear her oxygen just keeps saying I will later I can only keep trying to persuade her but can't force her it's her choice 😞

It is her choice but that doesn't mean that her decision is easy for you to accept. Try to concentrate on the good bits. I know I found it very difficult to accept that my mum had decided that it was time for her to go, but looking back she was right for her. I still miss her but can now remember her more clearly as my mum.

I know that might not help you today, and that you might not want to hear it but I mean well.

Thankyou I do understand and know she is giving up it's very hard to accept but I know mum will not be suffering and she will be with my dad again but surely mum must be suffering as her body must be slowly shutting down this is the bit I don't understand with her levels being that low

I can only speak for my mum but she was in pain until I managed to get the community nurses involved who got the gp to give her morphia and nurses came 2 times a day to wash and clean her somehow they managed to settle her down when I couldn't manage it. It was almost as if she felt more comfortable with strangers doing intimate things, so she could relax more with me. I looked it as tho she felt that way she could stay being my mum.

Dear Chezzy, you had a good day with your Mum & you will have more. Just take it a day at a time. Hope you get some rest yourself, thinking of you 🌸

It seems as if you did have a good day with your mum on the whole Chezzy so keep thinking of that. Dementia is terrible but for part of today your mum was with you as you would like to remember her. Take heart and be strong. Thinking of you. Xxxxx

Lovely replies for you Chezzy, and I can only say the same. It hurts so much to see your own Mum like this, but you are with her and will be there for her whatever will be. Keep the good days you had in your heart, and keep strong for the days ahead.xx

Dear Chezzyy66 you are somehow managing to make each day as comfortable for your Mum as she will let you. With Mum's condition, like you've explained, that's a battle. Just keep going- everybody here has given you replies of total respect. Take care.

So glad you had a lovely day with your mum. It does seem to be one step forward and two back, but that is beyond your control. You're doing such a good job Chezzy - you couldn't do anything more than you're doing for your mum, and that is a great achievement in itself. Don't forget to take care of yourself too x
