Hya guys, my dad uses an oxygen condenser at home. I was just wondering if fresh flowers would be allowed in the house?

Yes, of course.
I have an oxygen concentrator and often have fresh flowers in the house. I don't know of any reason not to.

Ok thanks just thought they'd compete for the oxygen in the house. Not allowed in respiratory wards in hospitals are they?
Flowers actually give off oxygen during daylight hours and were only ever removed from hospital wards at night. They are no longer removed, though I am unsure as to why.
In my experience they are not allowed in hospital at all - maybe the reason is time spent refilling wwith fresh water and clearing and putting them away at night, I don't know really. It's very hot in hospital so they don't last anyway but oh how they used to brighten your day. Anything to bring a smile to your Dad's face

Its the fragrance that they give off is the problem ,for some people with c o p d,,,

it was not when i was in i have never been so cold in my life . i spent time in the army and spent many a night on manouvrs but that hospital ward took some beating
I only know I have them when I am in. Maybe it varies by area/hospital. They do give off oxygen all day though.

As long as Your Dad isn't allergic to the flowers there should be no problem. I use an oxygen condenser too. I have flower allergies so none are allowed in My house. Non flowering plants are okay.
I think A1j1S is right, together with the water In vase breads germs. My mum had COPD in late life and couldn't have any flowers in the house as she said they affected her breathing as did people wearing perfume and airfreshners etc. As long as they don't bother your Dad buy flowers and enjoy them. x

No reason not to freshen up the place as much as possible, including with flowers...., why not? Most of our lives are drab enough but with the added hassle of COPD they're even more so...; LIVE IT UP !!!
I believe you mean, he has an oxygen "concentrator." ( I still have troubles remembering what to call it, myself! I have even called it a "condenser" before!).
I have never, ever heard of fresh flowers not being used around a concentrator and the booklet for it does not mention it either.
The only reason I could see fresh flowers being bad if used in the same house, to me, would be if there are extra scents sprayed onto the flowers, as some florist do, I think, that may aggravate his breathing. I know that strong smells like some house cleaners, perfumes etc. upset my breathing. So, I usually do not wear perfume anymore and have to be careful on my cleaning agents I use to clean house.
I found when I had cut flowers I was often poorly and I read somewhere about there being a bacteria in the water that can affect people with lung issues ( I may have dreamt it lol ) so I don't have them any more

Hi my lovely no your not allowed fresh flowers in your home and like you said you wasnt allowed in the hospital which is correct a friend of mine is in oxygen and specialist said it's a no go x
