Flying with Bollous Emphysema.

Well as you all know my story and recent medical facts, I had a final appointment with my GP who for the past 4 years has put me through my passes (GOD LOVE HIM) but don't want to see another doc as long as i live lol.

I have had the good news, i can fly with my bollous emphysema stage 1 with no medication required. I don't need a fit to fly test as my fev1 is very good.

He said i am at a slighter higher risk of a collapse lung due to my bollous emphysema but no more a risk than anyone else.

He said i really should not worry about it, the chances of it happening are very minimal.

Due to me stopping smoking when i was diagnosed back in 2010 this Bollous Emphysema really should not progress, keep doing what I'm doing and I should be OK.

Lung volume does decline with the good old age so I probably will feel it a bit more in later age.

The nurse I see yearly has suggested along with my GP that I could actually have been born with this and it was only picked up by chance due to a routine MOT back in 2010.

A GP at my surgery (older chap) was recently diagnosed with Bollous Emphysema, never smoked and runs marathons.

He to thinks he was born with this and only just been picked up.He has no great symptoms and has put it behind him.

I never exhibited any signs of this apart from slight out of breath when walking up a slope, think I'm more concious of things and get my self paranoid at every cough ache or pain in my chest.

Just need to keep doing what I do to keep fit and healthy and look forward to like in the far east (heading there soon, new chapter and new career challenge, cant knock it back.
