Has anyone been diagnosed with lung scarring (fibrosis) from tuberculosis? Dr thinks this is what I have.

Do the scars (and thus lung function) stay stable if TB is inactive? Am scheduled for biopsy next week....Thanks everyone.

My lungs are very badly scarred from sarcoidosis so I have pulmonary fibrosis. If you can maintain decent health then the scarring and lung function should remain pretty stable. Mine has despite having a fairly poor lung function.

Good luck

Pete also has scarring from sarcoidosis and his breathing is quite stable. His lung function is not great but he does manage very well considering. Were you diagnosed with TB? I do wish you well. Take care. xxxx

Thanks for reply and question. No, I do not know when I am supposed to have had TB. I am shocked by this suggestion made by lung specialist. Radiologist had writting "pulmonary fibrosis presumably secondary to sarcoidosis" on CT results. Lung specialist said possible but he thinks scarring from TB, and sarcoidosis is only diagnosed by exclusion anyway. A lot to take in for me at moment, but I hope biospy will give some more insights. Any further comments you have I would much appreciate. Take care.

I was tested for TB too - I wasn't able to start on meds until it had been ruled out. I think the symptoms are very similar.

Thanks Marie. Will let you know how I go. I hope the specialist is right b/c seems to me inactive TB is the worst of two evils.....I am definitely not active now he says....

It is just that generally TB is thought to be on a parallel with sarcoidosis and sarc is a very good mimic so I do think the biopsy will definitely give you more insight. Good luck to you and please let us know how it all goes. Take care. xxxx

Thank you. Nervous, but I guess I have to go ahead and find out....Sort of hope it is inactive TB as specialist suggested: this conditions seems "not as bad" as some of the others.....
