Pulmonary valve procedure.

Some of you who were around at the beginning of this year may remember that I was going to enquire about this procedure and when I went to see my consultant in May he said he would contact the person who does the procedure.Since then I have heard nothing but I had an appointment to see my consultant yesterday and he had been to a seminar on this procedure and he said he wasn't that impressed. He said it was new and didn't always go as planned. So I agreed with him that as my condition was pretty stable and I didn't have many chest infection and my quality of life wasn't bad just a bit slower than normal and I was often accompanied by my oxygen tank, I would not go forward to it. He said that he would be keeping an eye on the procedure so it could become something that I would have in the future. Just thought I would update you who remember this. Take care all and have a good Christmas. Keep smiling, I do.

At least it can be saved for back up Carole, when the procedure is more run of the mill. xx

Sounds like a decent Consultant there, Carole, at least he was prepared to fully discuss it with you so you could make an informed decision and, of course, things progress and get better quite quickly these days (with the amount of people struggling with poorly lungs, it needs too!). :)

good morning thank you for that I have been considering these but have not asked the question as yet, difficulty is in finding independent evaluations of them so you can make a judgement

Hi Caroleoctober - I too made enquiries about this " Pulmonary Valve " to my Consultant, and he said the Valves wear out quickly and have to be replaced at regular intervals , the design of them needs more work on them - Oh dear ! - didnt really fancy being opened up , perhaps a couple of times a year, so that was the end of my hopes on this one ! - Good Luck @ merry Christmas.

The valves are placed in your lungs via your nose, which is why I thought this was a better option than having the badly affected part of your lung removed!

Thanks for the update Carole, yes,I remember you speaking of it.

Sorry that it probably wasn't what you wanted to hear, but thank goodness you have a great specialist.Maybe things will be improved in the future,

Thanks for the links Puff, the blog I read before I asked about the procedure, the others have made interesting reading and I will discuss it again with my consultant when I see him in three months time. Keep smiling

I like to keep an eye on the procedure as I may ask my consultant about it in the future.
