Hi Martin,

It looks as if they are trying to find an alternative to fitness. I've seen these type of studies before. Very often they look promising in mice and rats, but as they try the studies in larger animals, either complications arise, or they just plain fail to show any benefit. Thousands of potential drugs get to this stage, but don't make it much beyond small animals. One day, they'll get one.............. but don't hold your breath. Our breath is too precious for that. It's nice to know someone is looking though.

Don't get disheartened over it, it is a necessary part of the discovery process, without which we wouldn't have the wonderful remedies we have now.

Hi John

Hmmm! I tend to agree with you. I am running out of options as I have just been knocked back for a lung transplant! I am told that (1) I am not sick enough (2) I'm in a blood group O which has the longest queue awaiting transplants (and I thought I was special with O negative, but apparently in transplant the tissue compatibility does not distinguish between positive or negative and (3) I'm too old !!!!!!! Well I guess at 67 going on 68 I am getting on towards my biblical three score and ten LOL. Stay well. Martin

I spotted this news yesterday and read with interest. Don't be disheartened Martin - if I make 68 I will be delighted - it's horses for courses. You are doing the very best for your condition so carry on and 88 will be a breeze. :) xx
