If my FVC is 6.28 at best and my FEV 1 is 3.26 at best PRE-RX is that good or bad? I have tried the spiromity calculator but I don't know what to put in, is it the figures in the pred colum or the figures in the best (pre-rx colum

You have me completely flummoxed! Try ringing the BLF tomorrow, they should be able to help you.

The important thing is that you do one breath after the other. This tends to keep us alive. lol

Seriously though, Toci is right. If you ring those nice nurses at the BLF they will go through it with you. The number is: 03000 030 555

Those numbers don't mean anything to me either, the figures are normally given as percentages, out of 100. 6.28 and 3.26 would be barely alive on that scale! :O

Call the BLF team, see if they can advise, even if it's to ring for the figures to work it out. ;) See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FEV1/... in the meantime, to give you an idea of how complicated it can get.

By all means have a play with the calculator at dynamicmt.com/dataform3.html as well - it seems to give the sort of values you have there.

I don't keep count of my results on my yearly check, she told me the reading has been the same for the last 3 years, which means its stable, its not going to get better. I'm happy with that result, sometimes I think a little knowledge is dangerous. People worry about things they can't change, If my reading is down next year, well I will be happy to have had 3 good years.

The results depends on your height and age and whether you are male or female. And they look at the ratio of fev/fvc I think.

What about FVC =127.

FEV 1 =81%.

PEF =72%.
