Do any of you guys have some special memories prior to health problems?
I have a passion for the Wild, Safaris, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, snorkel in the Indian Ocean, Historic. Ahhh my dreams to do it all again. lol.

Special memory was running up 4 flights of stairs when I was in training to be a nurse.
Most special memory - the first time I played for thousands of screaming fans -( not my fans )
And that's as much as you're gonna get!

Winning a prize for doing the best 'twist' dressed in a fairy costume made from crepe paper, I was about 7 and loved the Beatles!

I was so fit and slim and then gave up smoking. 2 months later I had copd! Smoking masked the symptoms it seems. Life is a bugger really.

I know we are similar with our COPD but with me being diagnosed straight in with very severe emphysema I can't see how the smoking could have masked my symptoms. I could do everything quite normal although I'd get puffed out now and again I even ran from the entrance to Victoria train station to the platform where my train was when me and my girls were racing to get the last train. The distance must have been about 250 yards. I was puffed out but not SOB. Puffed out is different from gasping for breath. I still haven't found the answer.
Can't remember life before lung disease. Would have to have a good memory as I was only a baby. Big ask anyway - can't remember what I've gone to pantry for!!!!!!

Oh yes. 9 stone, fit as a flea, playing league badminton with a sexy, young blonde partner. I could run and jump all day long. Did that for 20 years then somebody said "ok Bobby, you've had your fun now join the old folk"

Am not too greedy, would just be happy to be back at moderate stage living an almost normal life, not having to think about virtually every movement. When I still drove and could nip to the shops whenever I liked, to go and see friends, being able to care for myself properly and be useful and not a worry to my son - and Lil my cat - although it's probably better for her now as I'm a captive audience! . I suppose if I were healthy and 20 years younger my biggest drama would be a broken finger nail! Ha ha!

And Izzy I know too well about having to be looked after. @ the moment I am attempting to walk as much as I can, no matter how hard, just to keep my muscles in my legs. And of course to walk my mutley dog . . exercise my failing lungs.

10 years ago was on a research trip in the Rockies Colorado, I dont think I could handle asl 12,000 feet any more. The other big thing is I cant dance any more and that really gets me. sniff!
My last special moment was last night. I was playing darts in my team in a competition and it all came down to the last game and the last double - who got it first! I had just one dart at double 8 and I was concentrating so much my brains scrambled and my legs felt weak! I knew it had to go in - and IT DID straight in the middle of double 8. I screamed and jumped up and down and my whole team did! We were hugging and kissing each other and whooping (we are not serious but very enthusiastic). We were all so happy.....

My memories before my worries were all running with my kids and dancing at festivals, drumming on oil cannisters with all our might, and watching the dancers as we drummed the nights away. Happy Days. With fire light and whistles.

Thinking about party stories, I may put up another

So much missed,climbing all over the world,so many weekends rock climbing hill walking /mountaineering.
Still manage to do a little bit ,but its very small hills in Derbyshire ,hills that I could have run up 20 years ago in 10-15 mins now take several hours ,its 10 steps ,stop get my breath ,another 10 steps ,but always worth the effort.
I find it difficult not being able to play ,run around with my grandchildren.
There again I am 64 ,many of my friends gave up the active life years ago and not having a major health problem .
Still many great memories ,standing on top of the old man of Hoy ,ascending Mount Kenya ,first sight of the Himalayas ,climbing "cenotaph Corner " on my friends 50 th birthday,to name just a few ,but life goes on who knows what medical advances may bring ,possibly further adventures to be had.
Looking back I had a very adventurous life, trekking Himalayas twice, arranged our own Safari across Kenya from Mombassa to Serengheti in hired Avis cars ( two actually one was in a bit if a state when we got to Nairobi ! ) , climbed Mount Kenya, travelled Venezuela for 2 months, ditto Mexico, overland from Medan Sumatra to Denpasar Bali ( ship from Padang to Jakarta) . Lived in Australia ......bore bore bore . Then had a really good career. Had a great life and in many way I still do. We do a lot of European travel.Just cannot fly long haul right
now. Which means I cannot go to St Lucia, one of my favourite places ..sigh. Adrian

I used to be one of those people who rushed about and wanted everything done yesterday, I used to try and fit in as much as I could in one day, the one thing I miss now is jumping and eventing horses and also teaching as I can no longer propel my voice like I used to. But on a positive note now that I have copd and have been forced to take things more slowly I am seeing all the things that I missed before when I was rushing around, there is always a positive in everything if you look for it.
