when i chat or even sing my voise just stops before i get to the end of the sentence or verse so need to take a breath in, so is this the emphysema side of this COPD or the broncitas side

I think it maybe the inhalers as I have the same problem.

I constantly have to clear my throat or my voice goes silent. It's very annoying.

I discovered it was a side effect of my asthma spray, but the BLF nurse advised that if I wash my mouth out after each time I take it, it should help. I wasn't doing that properly I don't think.

My asthma has been really bad over the past weeks so I can't tell yet if that is going to help, but I'm hoping it will.

Although my problem doesn't sound exactly the same as yours, I thought I'd reply because it is about voice production.

I think inhalers and breathlessness can affect the singing and speaking voice.

I have no singing voice at all since using the inhalers, my guess is its the steroid inhaler. I say that because when I have a cold or infection the doc tells me to up my dose with the steroid inhaler, when I do that I nearly always lose my voice.

I had a reasonable singing voice before inhalers.

What you describe about the voice stopping before it gets to the end of the sentence or verse, I think that is probably the inhaler affect but your doc may want to check other things out for you if you mention it to him / her.

i think the inhalers can make your voice slightly sometimes stop has the feeling if you have been shouting or screaming the day before but i think it is the emphysema where has you can find it hard to exhale all your breath or if you were blowing out candles on a cake and you can only blow out 9 or 10 in one breath has the same in singing where you cannot finish the verse because you have come to the end of your breath quick then you should do normally
