I am currently on my 7th bout of Pericarditis, this occurrence is relatively mild when compared to others but I’m taking Ibruprofen now as was on Colchicine for 6 months so doctors don’t advise on any repeat doses at present. I am struggling with it due to impact on sleep and always worried if it will suddenly get worse. I don’t want to resign myself to fact that I will have this for life but it’s beginning to look that way?

ongoing Pericarditis

I've had myocarditis 3 times now along with some pericarditis, colchicine and anti inflammatory meds never worked for me , I was prescribed a course of steroids last Friday & am not having a great time with them ,don't know if I can stick it to be honest ! I also feel like this is my life now & that I'm just waiting for it to happen again ,I hope you get some relief
Hi,I've had myocarditis twice, a similar condition. I can see yes there is definitely a mental battle that you have to take part in, something that the professionals don't really help with that much (as per my experience).
I'd say, as I do for myself, take it day by day, every new day is an accomplishment.
Perhaps try and get to the bottom as to why it keeps reoccurring so that it could potentially be prevented in the future.
You're not alone in this.
Hope you get better.
Hi, I’ve been suffering from recurring pericarditis since my first episode in summer 2021. I’ve been on colchicine with and without ibuprofen for the best part of 3 years. Also 2 episodes of steroids lasting 4 months each. No warnings or causes for the recurrences although it seems if I exert myself or I’m in hot climes it flares. My cardiologist doesn’t have a problem with me being on long term colchicine if it keeps it relatively controlled. Perhaps discuss this option as ibuprofen is also not without issues if taken too often. I agree it’s an ever present worry of getting worse but I’m starting to feel calmer that I can seek help if very concerned and that although painful, it will eventually settle. It took me a while to think like that. Also I try to sleep slightly propped up on right side.
