First can I wish everyone "A Merry Christmas, and a Healthy and Happy New Year".
Here is a riddle for you to solve (see attached photograph)
I have also been meaning to do a Quiz but life has overtaken things all too frequently this year. Please reply if you would like a quiz around New Year.

EmInParis has worked it out! Congratulations! The official answer is "The (H)Olly (H)and the IV(y)"
People have asked how I am doing? Sadly 2024 has been a very frustrating year. The problem with macerated wounds (from Voldervort Toe) continues (over a year now). It is dressed weekly and I go to a Foot Clinic every 4 - 8 weeks. I am getting quite annoyed about it as I feel there is no proper care plan. Sometimes it starts improving with a specific dressing and then the next podiatrist does something different and it goes backwards. It is difficult to discuss as the excuse is always "We react to what we see on the day" but I am not convinced! The consultant to Limb Fitting (in a different Trust).recommends Manuka Honey dressings but my Trust does not even want to try them! It is definitely not a National Health Service more a Regional one as many Hearties have found out! As a result I have been on a number of courses of antibiotics some of which have awful side effects. One was so bad (nausea, vertigo, etc.) I ended up having a fall (fortunately nothing broken just heavy bruising to left shoulder, hip and thigh - a previous one resulted in three broken ribs). This affected my progress and two further injuries (strained quads and damaged tendons) have not helped progress.
My other main aim for 2024 was to move. I moved here to escape the care home where the weekly charge was a month's rent outside! Also it was not the place for me. However, I also decided after less than a year an over-60s apartment was not for me as there are more rules than when I was a fifth former (I walked out and went to sixth-form college after an argument with the school's new headmaster about which A levels to take). In my amputee journey the only people who have stayed in contact are a couple of care home staff who really care but are paid a pittance!
What a difficult journey for you!I rarely go on the forum now so a bit out of touch.Where are you living now? I have heard good things about manuka honey too...also maggot therapy which sounds very extreme but effective apparently.I hope that preparing and delivering one of your legendary quizzes will give you some respite. Here's to a better 2025 for us all!
I have read something recently, think it was on this forum but it was in relation to healing of wounds affected by anticoagulents? Manuka honey dressings were mentioned and praised for their effectiveness. You may have already seen it but am sure a search would bring it up. Yes please, a quiz would be great. Merry Christmas.
A quiz would be great Sorry to hear what a bad year you have had Mines not been too great either. I have a over 60s sheltered bungalow no rules or regs for us prehaps that would be good for you
Is that social housing? A friend has a bungalow and again does not have endless rules. The private developers like Audley Housing and McCarthy & Stone seem to have endless rules and treat the elderly as cash cows!
Yes Michael it is social housing and is a horseshoe shape of 14 bungalows and a really good set of neighbours I have been here 14 years now and love it
