diagnosed sept 2024 with a cardiac Ct . I am on meds but this week pains are more frequent and changing . I attended AE but ECG & Triponen bloods were ok so I was discharged . I am really wanting to know is it normal to have frequent pain in shoulders & chest while at rest which isn’t relieved with GTN . Is this something I just have to manage with meds . Any info would be appreciated

I’m on 80 mg statins and 500 mg renazole twice a day plus GTN spray . Just feel like I have been left in limbo and not sure if I’m meant to go to hospital or not

I had trouble with statins. When I was prescribed 80mg Artovastatin it caused me a lot of pain, neck;shoulder; scapula; chest and arm. I stopped the statin and the pain stopped after about two weeks. I have tried other but I can’t tolerate them. I’m currently on Ezetumibe which, so far, has been ok. Maybe speak to your GP to review your meds. I’m afraid it’s trial and error in order to get meds that suit. Good luck.

Hello,

The BHF some information about the different types of angina.

bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

If the pattern of your chest pain changes, it becomes more severe, occurs with little exertion and not relieved by rest and GTN spray, these are the symptoms of unstable angina.

The usual advice is to ring 111 or 999 for further advice.

I have lived with angina for over 12 years. I have had many many trips to A&E.

Not my favourite place, however my Cardiologist says I should always go if my symptoms change.

Do say how you get on.

Thank you yes that is the correct medication . I will try to contact consultant tomorrow . I have only been see by cardiology nurse specialist so far . I was meant to have a follow up last month but it was delayed until Jan 25

I hope you are able to get in contact with your Consultant.

Perhaps give the BHF helpline a call and speak with one of the cardiac nurses, who are very knowledgeable.

In the meantime if you are worried about your symptoms, please do ring 111 for further advice.

The original poster maybe referring to Ranolazine/ Ranexa which is a treatment for angina.

I suggest you look through the BHF website information about angina, in particular the symptoms of unstable angina.
