Unstable sternum

Cabg x2 in April 2023, am doing well and cardiologist is pleased with progress (ef in the 50s). I was recently advised I have an unstable sternum (bone has separated and is being held together by wires). Surgeon wants to do stabilization with brackets and screws but cardiologist is more conservative and asked that we carefully research. Has anyone here experienced this (Ive heard it called chest wall issues) and if so, what did you do (physically and mentally).

Some surgeons in the US are doing fixation plates from the get-go in order to improve recovery time:

I don't know a thing about it though; I had the normal wires.
