Are you in hospital?

At home

I suggest you read this

It is my understanding that at the troponin levels you have given us, it could mean something of medical significance has occurred such as a very small heart 'event', or equally it could mean nothing of significance has occurred, since it is all down to how tropinin is measured and different places use different methods. But at levels of one or two orders of magnitude higher than yours it is likely something has occured.

you didnt explain what the figures refer to? If its going down not anything to worry about unless they are out of range. Talk to your gp

Hello, how have you managed to measure your troponin levels at home? I thought this was done through a blood test in hospital when having chest pains? ❤️ 🧚🏼‍♀️

I too, thought a blood test was needed for Troponin? I can only say that mine was 212 in A&E a year ago, I was admitted and it was 534 two days later. I was told the normal level was around 11 or 12. I had no blocked arteries so they assumed it was caused by stress. I was signed off by Cardiac a few months later after an MRI but I'm still weak and exhausted all the time with occasional angina, high BP and heart rate. Nobody seems bothered. PS I'm 82.

At the hospital where in my area they are concerned if the first troponin is 14 or above. I have had quite a few raised ones, the worst being 37. Have no idea what the second one was, so far as I know they forgot to do it. I do know that 48 hrs later it was 13.7.To be honest I was completely wiped out and barely able to function for several months.

Sorry . I was confused everyone. I was A&E on Thursday night due to severe chest pain. They did the first troponin blood test which was 33. They did a another one. But I left before it came back due personal reason. Found out the other blood test result from gp yesterday. Nobody explain the level and what do they mean.

I suggest you make an appointment with your GP to discuss your troponin blood levels.

Do you feel your angina is being well controlled at the moment?

As others have suggested your cardiac event may need further input from a Cardiologist, including a review of your medication and further necessary tests.

My angina is not being well controlled. The pain I was in on Thursday was like giving birth. Waiting for angiogram.

Troponin is a cardiac enzyme that is used to measure the severity of a cardiac event- released when said event occurs. Usually raised when the patient has a Myocardial infarction- heart attack.

Hope you’re feeling better

What type of angina do you have?

I have vasospastic angina. When I have really severe coronary vasospasms it feels like being in labour to me.

Coronary vasospasms are well known for being very painful and lasting longer than usual angina episodes.

I have my bloods checked for troponin levels when I am admitted to hospital with unstable angina. Troponin is a protein which is released into the blood stream when the heart muscle is damaged.

Mine often will rise then fall following a severe coronary vasospasm. My troponin blood levels are checked everyday while I am in hospital, usally about 10 days.

Troponin blood levels can stay raised in your blood stream upto two weeks after an acute heart event.

Do you know when you're going to have your angiogram?

Troponin is an enzyme released by the heart muscle when it suffers damage through a cardiac event (ie a heart attack). It rises within the first 3-6 hours of the event and peaks usually within 12-24, before it starts to drop. Yours was dropping as it should. The fact that it was raised suggests something did occur. Your doctor is the best person to speak to about what may have occurred and what the future prognosis is.
