Hi, yes I had them initially for resistant hypertension. 4mg in the morning and 4mg on a night. It’s been two years I reckon.
Both my wife and I have been taking doxazosin for our hypertension for years. It works by dilating the arterioles throughout the body. Dosing can be from 2 mgs to 16 mgs per day varying with the individual's response. . We haven't experienced any side effects such as edema of ankles or feet. We monitor our BP three times a day to avoid dropping the BP too low. Doxazosin is usually an add on medication after first line BP meds like lisinopril, amlodipine or metoprolol.
Yes, it's okay and no side effects that I can recall. Moved on to something else now as it was also reducing my prostate which has now been trimmed
I was prescribed Doxazosin on top of 100mg Losartan. Unfortunately my reaction to it was such that my BP increased, not reduced.
I have just been prescribed this as well 2mg I was just about to post asking the same question. Char
I was on doxazosin, an alpha blocker, in combination with a beta blocker. This is quite an old fashioned way to treat hypertension but I didn't have any problems. However, I dropped doxazosin for spironalactone, a potassium sparing diuretic, which is another old medicine. My BP is now much better controlled. Doxazosin is useful in men who have both hypertension and urinary problems
I have just had my Amolodipine changed to Doxasozin 2mg because of major odeoma in both feet and ankle which my GP said was a side effect of Amolodipine. i have been on it for 2 weeks but have not yet seen any improvement. Being on Dapagliflozin also I am loath to ask for water tablets as I can pee for England just on those! I have not had one night in years that has not been disturbed by the need to pee! also my age is against me for the need to pee!
