Can anyone help to describe what the pain and after effects are?

In my case, no pain at all, though websites warn of all sorts of possibilities, as they do for after-affects. I was conscious that the insertion point in my groin was sensitive, but was rather more concerned about the bruising on the other side where the tracker dye had been inserted. (I'm still a little bemused why just about the only spoken advice I was given was not to use Dettol on it!)

Your health-authority website may have a section on post-TAVI, as should that for the hospital where the procedure is to take place.

One factor may be the medication you'll need to take afterwards - and you may already be on certain pills. There are quite a few threads about reactions to these, combinations of medicines and so on.

Thank you sadly in my health authority they don't publish patient information, they believe it leads people to self treat! I think the meds will stay the same, I can't take Clopidogerel in any event.

At very least you should be told some of the effects, I would have thought. My hospital suggested that a person of my age might become disorientated, with the suggestion that I bring in a favourite book, photo or blanket*! In fact the next day I was happily exploring the rest of the hospital with the encouragement of the nurse.

I have been given some info, but this is all being done only so that the lung surgeon will remove a tumour, 4 weeks after the TAVI I will have lung resection so my recovery is going to be complicated and compounded by 2 big surgeries in 4 weeks. Were it not for that I would have had SAVR in 2 years time.

Maybe when I'm in the TAVI nurse will come and see me, but I will be pushing for more info.
