I had side effects for 3-4 days, mainly headaches and tiredness then they just went. The one remaining side effect I have from Amlodopine is my ankles swell a little - nothing too bad but have been told its quite common.

Hello and welcome to the forum! I was on Amlodipine for about six months. The headache with lightheadedness lasted about a week. Ankle swelling was a problem and the GP added a diuretic. This was a nightmare as I was commuting (and always looking out for loos!) and I gave them up. Another CCI (Calcium Channel Inhibitor) Diltiazem did not cause oedema

I’ve been on Amlodipine for about 12yrs , it did cause swelling of the ankles but no headaches or rashes. Give a few weeks if no change see doc for alternatives, good luck

Been on it for a while now, still get the side effects from time to time. Also, it will depend on dose. Initially my legs swelled up but now settled.

Itching and a rash can be signs of an allergy, not necessarily from the main drug but from colourings or fillers in the generic versions. You shoudl report it to your GP and maybe see if your chemist can get a different brand. I have awful problems with rashes from the cheaper versions of drug s

Headaches are a common side-effect of amlodipine. If they continue report this to your GP and they should prescribe an alternative.

The first thing the AF clinic did was take me off Amlodipine as they didn't like GPs prescribing it as it causes swelling in the lower legs and ankles. Which I had. I have been on Ramipril for a long time and never had any problems with that and only went on the Amlodipine in 2017 when my old GP did an in house ECG and said I had LVH.

Took me a move of over 100 miles to the north west for my new GP to send me see a cardiologist as my old GP didn't. Cardiologist had an echocardiogram done as I had never had one before not expecting to find anything. Since 2017 after I had jaundice I can hear my heart beat in my left ear so I knew I was missing heart beats and had palpitations and heart flutters. Well much to my surprise and my cardiologists showed a problem after a bubble echo . This was in 2020 then Covid lockdown .

Lost track of times I went to A &E with palpitations and BH very high but once on ECG everything was back to normal. Luckily it happened early one Saturday morning and my daughter got me to hospital quickly and put straight on ECG and in A F. Monitored all day and had urgent referral to AF clinic and cardiologist. Put on Flecainide and Apixaban. MRI in 2021 confirmed I had a hole in my heart but the connections between the chambers of my heart are intact and strong heart function but have small hole between my lungs and heart. One of the flaps round my heart before birth didn't close but it's small and as long as I don't get chest pain safer to leave it. Which I am happy with I do get breathless at times but no chest pain .

If I get palpitations or heart flutters I just relax and do my anti natal breathing and it's soon over . I know I am on the medication and had no side effects from them .

Having problems with my legs swelling for last couple of months . Had all my normal blood tests including my fastening cholesterol which glad to say is 4.4 down from 5 last year . But having different blood test on the 6th for my heart as GPs don't give out water tablets unless need . Hopefully this blood test will show what's wrong .

I lost 7st over 5 years and the last 2 years trying to lose the last stone I want off. But this leg swelling causing my weight to go crackers as I can gain 4lb overnight . It's annoying as sticking to my cal allowance.

Anyway sorry for the ramble but that's me in real life.

No idea if this has helped .
