Had a heart attack early May and was put on Ticagrolor with which I had terrible side effects. Eventually I was changed to Clopidogrel which made a world of difference! My only problem is the itching I get, particularly on my torso, which is particularly bad when the weather is warm. Does anyone else have this problem and if so, how do you cope?

Itching

I was interested to see your post as my mother has also complained of it hung since starting clopidogrel - I checked and see if is on the list of most common side effects for this medication
I gave my mum some chickweed (stellaria) cream and she finds that helpful, but my usual source has come to an end so I will be looking for a new supplier as it is the best thing I have found for soothing itching from insect bites as well
perhaps an antihistamine might help, but do check first with your medic as it may be contraindicated with your other medications. Also no perfumed soaps etc, just water until the itching subsides. Good luck. X
Clopidogrel also makes me itch. I've been prescibed it on three different occassions and each time I've had itching. It does ease up after a while for me but never fully goes.
I had valve repair end Dec, and then icd fitted end of April...I have had itching since late Feb! Have tried stopping/reducing meds, used antihistamines, and nothing or noone has helped resolve the problem so far!
Hope for your sake you have better success in pin painting what causes it and how to irradiate the itching...mine continues 😞
Hopefully like Robbie 1964 it seems to be easing a little and I have noticed that it becomes worse when I'm hot /sweaty so I am trying to stay cool 😎. Thank you all for taking the time to respond.
Hi there can I ask what side effects you were encountering with Ticagrelor. Many thanks
Headaches, confusion, shortness of breath, total lack of appetite, dizziness, upset stomach.......... took me 3 trips to A&E before I saw a cardiologist who changed me onto clopidogrel. The difference was amazing, I felt human again. I've also been taken off statins and given nustendi which I have only been taking for a few days but seems to suit me much better.
Tha k you so much for a prompt reply I haven't encountered those issues with ticagrelor. What issues did you have with statins I am having some issues but seeing what others have experienced so I can see if one of my meds is doing the same to me.
It turned out to be the statin, resuvastatin, which was the major cause of my total lack of appetite, even looking at food made me feel nauseated. It was how I imagined anorexia is like. I lost 7½ kilos in 5 weeks. I don't recommend it, I may be thinner but also have lost muscle and have joint pain.I know not everyone has problems, I just seem to be more susceptible than most.
