Good evening everyone. Firstly thank you for having me, hoping to learn a lot but also offer support if I can ever offer any. In March this year I was rushed to hospital with chest pain and a numb right arm , I've been a Type 1 diabetic for 18 years and know that heart issues can sometimes go hand in hand. Initially they thought I had unstable angina (I'd already seen a GP in early Feb and was refered to a rapid chest pain clinic) I was in hospital for 4 days , various tests but was discharged and I'd have extra imaging done at the amazing Papworth.
I've had my scans , still waiting for results but I've seen a brilliant cardiologist in the mean time who has mentioned left ventricular ejection fraction , I don't know a great deal about it but I find I'm suffering daily with things still and finding things a lot to take in. Before my inpatient stay I was getting some awful dizzy spells , nausea and `heavy legs` , whilst things have improved I'm still struggling mentally.
Has anyone else been diagnosed with issues with left ventricular ejection fraction and what info do you know about it ? Sorry for the long first post!

All I know is the Ejection Fraction is a measurement of how the left heart chamber ( left ventricle) pumps blood out after it enters the chamber and although the heart never fills completely the normal for this action is between 55-75% mine for example is 50% which is classified as borderline. This is a rough explanation and I recommend speaking or emailing the BHF nurses who are superb.
Hi. This is what I have. I had an MRI scan and this was the results. I’m on many tablets to help my condition. How you’re feeling is normal. I can’t go into to much detail as everyone can be very different but I know you will be well looked after by your cardiologist. 🫶
Morning - welcome to the forum. Don't apologise for your post, more people will be able to offer advise and support from it. My partner had his surgery at Papworth in January so I just wanted to say if you're under there care you will be very much looked after. In the meantime time I do recommend giving the British Heart Foundation helpline a call, the nurses are amazingly supportive and knowledgeable - they really take their time answering your questions and explain things thoroughly.
Hi fetchmeacoffee, ejection fraction (EF), as others have replied to you, is a measurement of your heart performance. A healthy heart never reads as 100%, normal is about 60 to 65%. I am 25%, I also have left ventricle imparement and LBBB, and after a failed pacemaker implant (see my bio) I now take lots of medication to keep my heart stable. I feel well, keep active, and try to eat healthy as I am type 1. Before I discovered I was in the severe category for heart muscle failure I was tired and breathless, I still am but it's not so severe now. Wishing you all the best. PK.
