Tilt table test

Hey. I have a tilt table test coming up and am feeling surprisingly nervous. I'm pleased they're doing it because I think it may be very informative. Just curious to hear about people's experiences. I know everyone will react differently but it helps me to hear. I'm also worried about having zero symptoms - as ridiculous as it sounds, I want there to be a reason for how I'm feeling!

I've never needed one, but I get where you're coming from about wanting an answer and I think waiting is worse than getting it done.

Just an anecdote - I worked with a lady who conducted these tests. She had a patient who said they only had problems when they ate welsh cakes. I think they almost humoured them, but low and behold - 1 welsh cake later....

A bit sad when you live in Wales!

My wife had one of these few weeks ago. Didn't find it stressful however a few minutes from the end the monitors picked up abnormalities in BP and heart rate had been provoked. Doctor told her she needs a few days heart rate mentoring and following that to see a consultant. In the meantime she is not allowed to drive which has caused all sorts of problems with her job etc. Still no sign of a test appointment

I wondered whether to respond to this post since my experience was very traumatic. I was probably an exception the rule but it’s always worth knowing what can happen. I had a tilt test 10 years ago in Harefield Hospital ( top cardiac centre) for diagnosis of POTS. When the technician tilted me vertically and gave me the spray under the tongue, I went into cardiac arrest and created all sorts of havoc in the department as they tried to revive me. I judged from the pale faces around me when I recovered my senses that it had been a close thing 😳. I left the hospital a few days later with a shiny new pacemaker. The pacemaker hardly activates and was probably not necessary but is better to have it than not. I’m sure my experience was not common and you will be fine. Best. Peter.

Sorry for not replying sooner. Didn't mean to be rude. Had my appointment cancelled, a family member admitted to hospital and then a cancellation appointment for me so been somewhat hectic! I am going to do a new post to try to gauge the best move as my test went to pot.I was over 10 mins in and started to get hot and sweaty and said I felt sick. They had no sick bowls though and wouldn't go anywhere to get one so options were be sick all over the place or end test. So the test was ended and after she said well if I had been sick then maybe my usual symptoms would have shown themselves. Now I feel it was a wasted test and am upset with how it went. If they had a sick bowl, then I would've persevered. So frustrating
