Hello all. We are a couple who are new to this. My partner was diagnosed on Friday that he has heart failure and has to give up his job. What do we next?

Heart failure is an emotive word. It can mean everything from a very serious condition right up to a heart not working at its theoretical best.

What is your husbands EF (Ejection Fraction) and what is the course of action regarding medication or surgery.

Was this unexpected or have there been heart problems in the past as that will help you to move forward

Hi I’m sorry to hear your husband has been diagnosed with heart failure? What is his EF? I’ve been living with H/F diagnosis for over 20 years.

Up until I decided to retire I was still working with a low EF. It depend on his job. Sometimes by continuing to work it helps your heart. I was still working with a EF10% yes you’re reading correctly. After I was put on heart failure meds it climbed to 23%.

I only stopped working because I had a bad fall, dislocated my shoulder and damaged it, so I decided to take a previous pension and retire early at 60.

But like I said it depends on your job and your Ejection Fraction, which tells you what level your heart is functioning at. It should be 50% and above.

If you go onto the pumping marvelous website it explains it all.
