Thank you for your replies, I'd like to clarify I am planning to have a mechanical valve. I used the expression synthetic valve incorrectly. I assumed it meant not a biological animal valve. Therefore I will definitely be on warfarin.I really appreciate everyone's input, getting first hand experiences is invaluable. Thank you

Hi, apologies for the late response. I have been taking Warfarin for the last 36 years and it has never disrupted my lifestyle. Admittedly my normal alcohol consumption is close to zero but INR tests can be anything between 2 andv10 weeks apart. Hope this offers you encouragement.
