Angiogram

Hi, this may be a silly question, I have just had an angiogram through my wrist and wondered how long it takes for the artery to heal and a bleed is no longer a risk? Thank you

Hello :-)

When I had mine done I think they said just a couple of days try not using it or lifting anything to heavy with that arm but I was fine :-)

How did you find the procedure ok ?

I was petrified when I had mone done and then after I felt silly as it was not so bad at all :-)

Hope you get the results soon and let us know what they are hopefully it will be all ok :-) x

Hi, procedure wasn't as bad as I imagined thankfully, I was told the same but just a bit worried about the wound site bleeding. Sure all will be well, thank you 😊

Hello :-)

The reason they let the air out slowly is to prevent any bleeding

I have read many posts on here and never come across one where someone has said that has happened and I have no luck and yet mine was ok so I am sure you will be fine it might hurt a little could even bruise maybe but usually that is all

I am glad that you found the procedure not to bad and it has been done now :-) x

I was told to be careful and keep it dry for a couple of days .Had bruising appear after a few days and it was swollen back to normal after about a week . I was told my results the same day.Not great experience but nowhere near as bad as my imagination made it :)

Try this from the NHS. It covers what to expect, and what you should and should not be doing over the next few days and when to get help in the unlikely event you need it

No problems here except for the bruise. I christened it my tribal tattoo, I can still see a ghost image of part of it nearly 8 months later.

For various reasons I was admitted for mine and other health issues unrelated to the PCI resulted in my remaining there for a while.

No bleeding from the entry point or anywhere else and, strangely, it wasn’t sore either. As you can see no dressing on the entry point either and that picture was taken 48 hours after the angioplasty.

I’m now feeling better than I have for years, more active too, running 5k parkrun weekly as well as other exercise. I had an immediate improvement in how I felt, however other cardiac issues were found when they tried to discharge me and I’ve had AVR and CABG as a result of those. Yes, I’ve sampled a lot of the surgery on offer …
