Taco Tsubo Cardiomyopathy

I was diagnosed with this after becoming ill with chest pain at my sister’s funeral. She died in December 23 from a heart attack. There were also some other stressful issues at the time, which the cardiologist said had all led to this. I have to take it easy and take the meds for the next two months until my next heart ultrasound and just wondered if anyone else on here has had this condition and how the managed it. Thanks

I've had four episodes and possibly more smaller ones before being diagnosed. Two from severe emotional stress (Having to get my daughter out of a DV situation) and two from physical stress (bad falls). With most people the left ventricle goes back to normal shape and pumping ability and normal EF, within three months. Sometimes, with others, there are lingering symptoms. I've been left with moderate mitral regurgitation, LBBB and mild diastolic impairment, some hypokinesis. I had MVD since my teen years. However I am stable on the optimum medication for cardiomyopathy.

Yes I had a "likely diagnosis"of this at the end of October, following a small heart attack diagnosed on while holiday abroad in September. TAKOSUBO Syndrome (TTS) is the more appropriate name for Stress Cardiomyopathy. Takosubo.net is a great Facebook group to join it gives loads of information on this syndrome. It requires rest and being gentle on yourself. I too was sent home with lack of information on this. Take care and ask questions everyone is so helpful

I had an episode of Takotsubo several years ago and am a member of the Facebook Takotsubo Support Group - the group also has a website: Takotsubo.net (as mentioned by Quaddie) which has lots of info about the condition

The good news is that most people recover well, but it can take longer than the doctors predict, particularly if you have other ongoing health issues

As a result of a Takotsubo episode, the part of the heat muscle which was affected is usually left with inflammation which can take a while to resolve - this inflammstion prevents your heart from pumping as well as itit should so you end up feeling tired more quickly than usual - it is best not to push yourself but work within your limits, increasing your activity very gradually - this is very different to recovery after a Myocardial Infarct which blocked arteries, where you are encouraged to get active as quickly as possible - so please don't be pressurised to get back to full activity befire you feel ready

I don't know what medication you have been prescribed but some of it can also leave you feeling tired

if your get chets pains or have breathing problems please slow down - if this persists or get worse call 111

do join the Facebook group for more info and support, you are not alone with this but may feel that way as few people have heard of this condition🌺
