Hello, I've been experiencing chest pain , shoulder blade pain lower back pain, feeling so unwell these last few days . I've had light chest pain since before Christmas. But it's much worse. I have a pulse oximeter which I've had for a good while. I've never had a problem with my heart rate, but noticed last few days it's hitting 220 . When I'm lay flat it's good , It goes up sat up straight feet on floor , when I breath in or talk. When I've said A long sentence it feels asthough I've just had helium and like im talking out my nose. I had blood clots in lungs and pneumonia in August and my heart rate has stayed fine throughout , my chest feels really heavy like somebody's pulling down on my chest . I went to GP showed her the videos she put it on my finger for 12 seconds didnt want me to show that it goes up when I'm stood etc. Gp just said anxiety . But I'm generally feeling so unwell. Doctor made me feel like they'll just say anxiety in hospital so don't want to waste time. Do you have any advice?? Thank you

I also used the pulse oximeter on other people and they ain't getting numbers I'm getting, I've changed battery's incase it's that but still getting very fast heartbeat. It goes up and down up and down so quickly . Yesterday it hit the highest which was 255 bpm that was in the evening when I sat up on edge on my bed with feet on floor I was talking when I stopped talking it'd go down. If I take a deep breath it it goes up also

Hello I think and it’s only me thinking, I would not from experience take only anxiety as an answer (I’m sure there is an element as result of what your heart beat is doing / showing - normal human reaction even if you did have an anxiety disorder).

So as I am reading it the GP is implying that if they think it is anxiety you don’t get anxious when you lie down (ok rate), you only get anxious when you stand (high rate)?. That’s doesn’t seem logical. Seems like your heart rate is responding to postural changes??????

absolutely no expert so just my opinion. But I don’t see the logic of the GP’s view.

I’d pursue through a referral to a cardiologist. Please Go back to your GP and “persuade” for a referral.

MOST IMPORTANTLY- you’ll not be wasting anyone’s time, there is something showing up and you’ve said you’ve had chest pain / feel unwell etc which is new for you(?) and the worst is A&E send you away with some reassurance there is no immediate problem and you can then work on getting referred to a cardiologist.

(It gets my back up when GPs are lazy and put it down to just anxiety - I say this from personal experience).

Good luck ❤️

Hi, Abbielee, with my experience don’t take anxiety as an answer but yes you do get anxiety when you have symptoms that tell you something isn’t right so make sure you tell them about your pain/symptoms and say you know your own body and there is something definitely going on that needs investigating. Read my profile to see it took me years to get somewhere and now I have heart failure with an implanted device. Good luck let us know how you get on. Joy x

I’ve had terrible symptoms this past year or two and I e had to push hard . My experience.. GP should recognise this needs checking out , A&E visit would check you over for anything truly serious, if not they will possibly refer you on to outpatient cardiology… they may also try and say anxiety . Keep a diary , keep pushing and complain via pals if you have symptoms that you believe are not being investigated. You also probably do need to address anxiety issues too . I’ve had to fight , they put me on anxiety meds , bisoprolol, referred me to therapy all whilst on a very long waiting list to see cardiologist. I’m now about to have a loop recorder implanted but I’ve had some worrying symptoms. Rule everything in to rule it out but don’t be fobbed off and never feel you’re wasting anyone’s time
