Hi, I was diagnosed with Afib November 2023, previously thought the chest aches I was getting after any exertion diy garden landscaping, concreting etc were due to old age I’m 77 plus I was hospitalised for three weeks in 2020 with covid and as a bonus while in hospital got a chest infection and also pneumonia, I know pneumonia can scar your lungs so I put the ache down to that, it always wore off within hours. That all changed when my wife and myself went to a friends house and I drank a bottle of wine and lots of cheese, two hours later the same ache came and didn’t go as it normally did so I rang 111 for advice, two hours and a paramedic later I was admitted to hospital and after tests was diagnosed with Afib. I’ve always been an health worrier so this compounded my worrying even more. I was 99% teetotal anyway 100% now and I’ve never smoked and always eat healthy and even though I’ve been told I can lead a normal life with restrictions I’m not convinced and feel like a dead man walking, I am my own worst enemy an hopeless case.
