I was diagnosed eith AFib at the age of 49 and have been living with it for the last 8 years . I am on dijoxin and flecinide , it never really bothered me that much up until about 6 weeks ago. I woke up early hours with my heart racing at 140 and very irregularly. I took myself yo A and E and for 5 hours was monitored and sent home. Since then my anxiety is through the roof and am constantly panicking every time it skip or double beats. Can I ask firstly is it still normal to get irregular beats even on meds and is anyone else in the same situation please x

I was getting irregular loud heartbeats when my GP changed me from Ramapril to Candesartan for high blood pressure. I stopped taking the Candesartan and have been prescribed Amlodipine which I'm really nervous about taking but will try it as I know I need hypertension medication.Hope you get sorted and at least the A+E checked you out thoroughly try not to worry.

hi natty, I’m on bisoprolol and still get ectopics and runs of AFIB.!! The ectopics are a total nuisance sometimes and just increase my anxiety. Iv had them over 30 years now and I’m still here so try not to worry too much.

All the best

Believe me Nat there are plenty of us. And we still here to tell the tale 👍. There’s probably only one thing that likes it and that’s the anxiety animal.?? Even after 30 years + of living with them I can still let the anxiety start taking over if I’m feeling that way.? But at end of day I know they going to kill me so they annoy me more than frighten me nowadays.👍 hopefully you won’t have them as long as I have, but just remember you’ll be ok even though they are frightening sometimes.👍

That’s good to know and hopefully will come out the other end of this. I am just waiting for cardiology to contact me for a 24 hour monitor. Have u heard of ablation before ?

Let’s say I’m a lot better than I was. I still get little episodes of a fib and ectopics but cardiologist just changing my meds a little to see if it calms things.?👍

Hi Natty

I’ve had A/Fib for 12 yrs, I used to have my heart racing,it was frightening and you do panic. It took about 2yrs to get my medication right.

I’m on Digoxin, Amlodipine, I do occasionally get my heart racing but not as much since my change of medication, it’s a trial on what medication suits you.

My anxiety was terrible at first but did get help with counselling through help in mind, that helped a lot but still have the odd panic attack now and again, good luck and seek treatment with the anxiety.

I was diagnosed with afib four years ago, and take bisoprolol everyday. I have good days and a few bad days and nights. I decided not to have an ablation, my afib is permanent, I have learned breathing exercises to help when I need to and it does help
