Hi all, my age is 80 and I may have stage3 CKD. I have to have a meeting with a Heart Surgeon to see if it’s safe for me to have triple bypass and replacement valve. Anybody been through this at this age I’d love to hear how your recovery went.

Age 80 bypass needed
Hi, I’m a bit younger than you (61) and had quadruple bypass July 25th, however , in my rehab class is an 82 year old who is doing pretty well after his bypass surgery 👍👍. I think there are many of your age group that have had success bypass surgery , my surgeons kept mentioning how young I was and not their typical patient 🤦🏼🤣. I’m sure some will be along soon to reassure you. Wishing you all the best 👍❤️
Also a bit younger had mine at 68 with no problems, recovered quite well a couple of stents later the most recent at 75 so age not really a problem. I think Heart Failure more of an issue with the Anaesthetic my neighbour recently had a pacemaker and he is 88.
I would work on the basis if they feel it will be of benefit they will advise You accordingly.
Regards
I was 70 when I had my quad bypass last year. It is a very expensive operation and they wouldn't suggest it unless they were very confident of a good outcome giving you many more years of life.
Aged 71, had PCI 20 weeks ago followed by AVR and CABG 17 weeks ago.
Tomorrow morning will see my 5th Park Run since then and also the 5th ever in my life. I have a complete new opportunity to live life normally after my episode last October.
The only issues I have are my chest muscles are still sore but that is improving with exercise and how easily I bruise/bleed due to the blood thinners I'm on for 12 months post procedure.
Please don't worry about CKD. I have had stage three for many years which is monitored annually. Go ahead with the surgery as they obviously think it's worth doing!
