Been to the Drs today they said if they can't get my heartbeat down to 60 I will have to go up to 2.5 mg of bisoprolol and won't be able to workIs that really the case that you can't work with a heart rate of 60 BPM ?
Rather concerned : Been to the Drs... - British Heart Fou...
Rather concerned
I would clarify with your GP about what they meant. I have, and do work with a lower heart rate than that. My heart rate can be as low as the 40’s if I’m sitting down and working but I don’t seem to notice it.
I hope you can get some answers.
All the best.
Tos
My resting heart rate is around 50 or so and I can drop to the low 40’s during the day. GP is unconcerned by this. I’m currently on 1.25mg of bisoprolol which depresses the heart rate in any case.
You don't say what your resting and moving heart rates are.
Hi I'm afraid I can give those results as my heart beat is very unstable and rises and falls all the time
2.5 count yourself lucky I am on 10 mg a day
HiI was very interested to read your post. My heartbeat s rarely below 105 even when I went for a CT Scan of my heart it took tablets and an injection to get it down to 55 bpm to enable them to do the scan and get a clear picture. I was a week later put on Bisoprolol in readiness for the scan which was like closing the stable door scenario. I didn't feel good for the short time I was on it and when I spoke with my GP three weeks later he said to stop taking it as it should have been prescribed pre scan to slow my heart down.
I will read responses to your post with interest.
Hope you can find the answers to your questions.
I got told 1.25mg is a very small dose ( doc said basically holistic!! ). When consultant pushed up to 2.5mg it seemed to be a lot more effective and didn’t have any side effects.
No one has told me what my heart rate is supposed to be. Per cardiologist I reduced bisoprolol from 2.5 to 1.25 and noticed heart rate is around 60 when I'm doing nothing or sitting working and was worried that was low but you've actually put my mind at rest. I have got a cardio appointment next month and will check this
I am on 2.5 mg of Bisoprolol. My heart rate can drop to below 50. I am retired but have never been so active and busy in my entire working life. I feel really fit and well. No one has ever told me to stop doing my voluntary work I think you need to get your doctor to clarify what he means.Let us know
I'm on 5 mg bisoprolol, with a resting heart rate of 42. No issues whatsoever except fatigue now and then, but that's not necessarily solely due to the medication, I think. You should press your cardiologist for clarity.
Seek confirmation from your GP who may be referring to the higher figure and not the more stable 60bpm he hopes the increased dosage will achieve. I was started on Bisoprolol 2.5mg twice daily following a hospital stay a couple of years back. A further episode that put my resting heart rate way above 100Bpm lead to my dosage increasing to 3.75mg twice daily. I wear a smart watch with heart rate monitor and my daily resting rate is around 50 -60 bpm .
