Dating post OHS

Hello everyone I had an emergency operation in December to repair a huge aortic aneurysm and replace my aortic valve. I’m nearly 45 and I find myself single again as my then relationship didn’t survive my months of illness. So…. Now I’m feeling a lot better I’m wondering about dating but scared about my huge scar and ticking heart sound putting off potential suitors!!! I mean… I think I sometimes sound like a ticking bomb which puts me off myself!!! Anyone got any relatable experience ? !!!

hi our health conditions are a huge part of our lives but they don’t have to define who we are,

I think anyone who is put off by some ticking or a scar ain’t worth spending time on.

But you’ll have to kiss several frogs first till you find that one who is open enough to give things a chance - but that’s the same for anyone - we all have things / issues that we think will put people off even without having any health issues.

Besides Anyone looking at that area of your chest on your first meeting and then hear’s the ticking - you want to question their intentions / priorities anyway 😉

Maybe assure yourself first that you are ok with it all then that’ll bring you confidence and that’s always an attractive quality.

good luck!

Thanks. Yes maybe being ok with my own body is step 1!

I agree that anyone put off by that isn’t worth the time anyway. My husband was very worried that he looked scary after his surgery but no one notices it. I know it’s easier having a hairy chest! There will be the right person out there x

Hi, not the same as dating but after my OHS I didn't give my scar any thought when I got back to swimming, I see it as being part of my life story and who I am.My wife finds the ticking reassuring if anything, I find it annoying at times but I'm sure it's louder for us!

As the others say, if someone has a problem with it they ain't worth it.

Take care.

Andy

Hello I'm new to this site and have found so far such an abundance of lovely special people who take the time to come together for support.

I'm still waiting for my outcome with waiting further test etc.

But one thing struck me reading your post was sometime going through a real life changing events make or can make you put thing into the right perspective and I'd say how incredibly luck you are to have recovered to feel you can live your life and share it with someone special.

who ever comes your way will I'm sure be blown away with your bravery and courage and I think it's amazing you tick someone's boxes for sure lol 😂 and as for a scar it's just a reminder of being a warrior and a survivor!!

And if it bothers you too much have a wonderful tatoo. That's what I did on my arm .

I wish you all the success in the world!

You don't have to worry about your age, as finding someone is quite possible at any period of life. Moreover, I also lived alone for quite a long time until I started using this dating source sofiadate where you can also find a partner. It is thanks to this site that I am currently in a serious and strong relationship.
