This time next week all being well I'll be checked in on the ward and likely have had whatever is available for dinner. At the moment I am on the sofa watching Paul Simon on Sky arts and it starts I'm in a flood of tears overcome with emotion.
I've dealt with the practical stuff, PJ's et al and now I'm a blubbering wreck. 😥
How did you deal with your emotions?

I am sorry the emotions have kicked in but they do and it is normal
We cannot stop emotions but what I did is let them come and had a good cry and I talked I let people know how I felt which really helped
Try and take each day at a time plenty of distraction and before you know it you will have different emotions may be making you cry with relief it is over and you are back home
Try and relax a hot bath and if you have a friend give them a ring and have a good old chat nothing better I think x
You are now in the very worst part of the whole…….waiting.
So tears will help release the tenseness.
As soon as you get to the ward, the fear etc will melt away.
Are you having the pre op tests as an inpatient or will they be separate ? They are often done separate. Or is your operation confirmed for 24th/25th ? I had them as an inpatient which was ideal.
Quite a nice time of year, it should be decent weather to get home to, then rehab etc by Christmas. Best Christmas pressie ever.
Hi, you will be with the experts who do these surgeries every day. It is perfectly natural to be anxious. Look forward to your recovery and enjoying life. Be kind to yourself, take it one step at a time. We are with you. Judi
Oh wow. You really are ready to go. I bought myself an iPad, so passed the hours trying to get it working. I also got in to my modern language bible and read Revelations from start to finish. Didn’t understand any of it, but it did pass the hours. Due to covid I stayed as an inpatient. No visitors. I now realize the staff made sure I wasn’t alone for very long. Doctors, nurses, health care assistants, canteen staff and engineers all visited on a pretty regular basis.
I was really well cared for. Fantastic.
Sad that I had a male nurse for the shower/hair wash. Then an oddity was they got me to walk in to the theatre and climb on to the operating bed. Maybe covid related. Boy it was warm. Just remember thinking couldnt you do these needles after the anaesthetic. Then I woke up two days later.
Best wishes,
Sooty
we are all with you in spirit and sending you every best wish
Good morning LindaLittleBear. I am not sure what operation your having. But hope everything goes well for you and you can recover and feel better very soon. Keep us informed. Thoughts are with you. Brian
Morning Linda - just wanted to send you the very best of wishes for your admission to hospital today. I'm sure we'll all be thinking of you and really looking forward to hearing how well you got on once you get home again. Carol👍😊
All's well with me, Linda - having a lazy Sunday morning and just about to hop into the shower. My sister visits every Sunday so I've been sat around wondering what I can dig out of the freezer to cook for us for lunch if she doesn't want to go out clothes shopping (which seems to be her hobby!). 😊
Hopefully you'll be able to get a bit of a snooze once you're tucked up in your new (very) temporary lodgings! Really looking forward to hearing how well you get on. 👍xox
Hi Linda, My thoughts are with you, I can totally relate. I've been a week away from my op 3 times now, for me 14 days to go. Now and again a little wobble. But, I try to walk each day then the pain reminds me why I am going in. (3xCABG), My head is now looking at it as a blank 12 hr period, lots of photos of when I'm all connected up so we can all have a laff afterwards.
Then pain and discomfort for a few weeks with an upward trajectory for feeling Great 💪. Its Gotta be done.
Bucket list ready, which will involve a lot of hill/mountain walking for next year and a half decent holiday as a reward for being a brave little soldier 😎. Reading all of others who've been through this and come out the other side is a major +ve.
Good luck, I, like all the others, will be looking forward to reading you're updates next week
