Hi everyone ! Hope the heat wave is gone . Here in Montreal is gone and I am happy as it was very difficult with my chest pain .I am still struggling with finding a solution to my extreme fear of starting this new medication Corzyna (ranolazine 500mg). My cardiologist wants me to try it . I read that in women 65 years and older it can cause serious cardiac problems! My pulse is sometimes low in the 50s ,so I am very scared. The cardiologist is trying it because I did not tolerate Cardizem and Amilodipine. I am very sensitive to meds ! Also this med does not seem to be helpful in vasospastic angina. I did not have an angiogram and just having a diagnosis, but not tolerating meds after doesn't make much sense . Sorry for the long rant ! I am so discouraged and scared as I am on no meds other than nitro spray for extreme pain .

Hello,
We all respond to medication differently. Some Cardiologists use a trial and error approach to treating patients with microvascular or vasospastic angina, especially when there isn't a confirmed diagnosis through testing.
All medications have side effects, we can only as individuals decide whether the benefits of a particular treatment out weigh the possible risks.
Sometimes our quality of life out trumps the risks.
Maybe try taking Ranolazine and see how you respond?
