Severe Joint and bone Pain a month after surgery ?

Good Evening

I really am quite desperate to find out why I’m having such sever Joint pain a month after a stent being fitted.

I can’t find a single thread or search result when I search my symptoms which is quite worrying. I know there are different Statins with different side effects but non that mention such severe shifting bone/joint pain

It can move from by Knees to my wrist then to the whole knuckle then finger to finger, unless I dose up with Cocodimol I can’t sleep the pain is so severe .

I called the Dr out 2 days ago who also seems to be baffled by my symptoms.

Has anyone else experienced this side effect of the drugs prescribed after a stent

Regards

Daren

Hi Dazindorset

I’m sorry to hear you’re not feeling well.

Which statin are you on? My mum takes Atorvastatin 40mg and unfortunately, gets regular muscle pain in her calves and shins from it. I haven’t heard of the pain moving around however as you describe it.

It might be a good idea to discuss other statin options with your GP to see if the pain reduces.

I hope others come by with some helpful suggestions.

All the best.

Tos

queenielover MAY be referring to cardiac rehab (but I’m not at all sure!). Have you been offered rehab yet? The nurses there may be able to answer your questions. With the proviso that I’m not medically qualified, your pains don’t sound like a reaction to either the stent or the statins. I’d go back to your GP for advice.

I don't know what medications you are on but its worth reading the detailed label in each packet to see if they have a warning. One by itself might be causing the problem or when mixed together they could react. It could also be the dose or when you take them.

Some of them warn against taking them if you have had other problems in the past such as asthma. If there's no obvious problem caused by them then the GP needs to get involved again

A couple of years ago, a colleague of mine had similar bone/joint pain and was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency. I know that statins can cause vitamin D deficiencey, so maybe a test for this would be a good idea.

Thanks

After 3 days of pain and hospital admittance I’m coming to a similar conclusion… arthritis driven by low immunity and D deficiency

I have suffered long term multi joint pain for some time now and I know most of it is down to osteoarthritis however when I mentioned how much worse it was he changed my statin and was extremely helpful. However I didn't take the new statin for long as I was having the exact same problem so I stuck with the old one. That said I have just had my third night in a row of less than four hours sleep due to a combination of factors however the worse is the joint pain and muscle twitching up and down my body.If anyone has even a temporary solution would be grateful.

Hope you can find your answer.

I don’t have the twitches but the pain is unbelievable… I don’t know if your pain gradually moves across your knuckle and wrists but this is what’s happened to me.

over the last few days it has moved from my knee to my right hand/wrist to my left ?

So painful..so inexplicable

I have experienced the pain across my knuckles but as it is not a lasting pain I haven't mentioned it to my GP.
