should be Troponin

Depends on the test used, which is different across different hospitals... some it's >5 ng/mL, some it's >14ng/mL would be considered elevated.

It depends. Each hospital has it's own reference levels according to which test they are using.

Usually high sensitivity troponin I or T are used in the UK.

The levels are slightly different for women and men.

Approx 15ng/L for women and 34ng/L for men can indicate the heart muscle may have been damaged.

There is is ongoing research to suggest that levels above 5ng/L may indicate heart problems that require further investigation.

During an acute cardiac episode the levels are usually seen to rise then fall.

Usually more than one blood test is taken, unless the first test is less than 5ng/L.

An example of how troponin levels can be used.
