Good morning, I hope you are all feel well this morning. I've finally got my MRI booked for 17th August, then after 7 day monitor to be fitted. I was just wondering how long after the MRI do you get the results. I've HCM family related my cousin at 34 had sudden death. I was last seen in April for echo so I've been worried since then as my thickness has grown 2mm so from what I've read the MRI is more detailed. Will they then decide after this what the treatment plan will be? I first went in 2017 to papworth so it's been a long journey to get here, as they couldn't determine if I had hcm as I was at the top end of the threshold where they make the diagnosis so they have waited to see if there would be any change and there has been. I've recently been diagnosed with pericarditis which has been really painful at times, I've shortness of breathe, constantly tired, bones hurt too. I have no thyroid, work full time have an autsic child so that contributes to the tiredness. I really just want to feel better 😞

Hiya,

I wouldn't wish pericarditis on anyone, it's a really horrid pain. If you're not doing it already, I've found a wedge pillow or sleeping on an incline helps a bit at night.

Getting results depends on your area... a year ago I waited about 6 weeks, but I believe it's gone up since then. Your area might be different.

I called the cardiologists secretary and she was able to give me some details over the phone before the letter came out.
